CALLING ALL MALE SINGERS

Noteworthy wants you! Do you want Noteworthy? ... OK, please say 'no' cause that would be creepy--I mean, maybe one but not all--so let's try this again...

*****

Noteworthy wants you to sing! Do you want to sing with Noteworthy? Yes? Good! Then we would love to invite you to:

We Have a lot of Fun!

AUDITION!!!!

We realize you might have some questions so we're here to answer them!

  • When are they?

    • Auditions are held at the end of each Spring semester and occasionally at the end and/or beginning of Fall Semester. This year they will be at Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 1 PM

  • What do I have to do?

    • You will have to sing a short solo piece, show us what your vocal range is, show tonal memory (music manager plays X notes, you must sing back) and sight-read a simple piece of music. Depending on how far we go with you and how auditions are sructured in that particular year you may also have to sight read a more complicated piece (one we actually perform), sing as a hypothetical member of the group so we can see how you might blend and sing the solo in one of our pieces to show us your showmanship and how you can 'handle' the group behind you.

  • Who [which voice parts] are you looking for?

    • We are looking for men who love to sing! Noteworthy is a big (but incredibly rewarding) commitment so you must enjoy spending all that time in rehearsal and we can see if that might be the case in your audition: how you sing and what your attitude is. So, come to us, sing your heart out and be friendly and you'll be surprised what might happen!
    • As far as voice parts, even though we may have a "full compliment" of voice parts, we are always willing to hear your audition! I mean, it's not like our membership is regulated by our name or something... We're very flexible and fluid from year to year. But for goodness sake, be confident as you may just blow us away so much that we'll make room for you.

  • How do I sign-up?

    • Simple! E-mail our Business Manager at any time to let us know you're interested and you'll be contacted when the season starts to schedule your preliminary! If it's during our audition cycle, e-mail to schedule a preliminary appointment. After your appointment, we will let you know wether or not you've been called-back, normally that night.
    • Call backs will be held from a few days to a few weeks after your prelimary; you will know when they are before your preliminary.

  • Can high school seniors audition?

    • Yes! We would be thrilled to have any high school seniors who have submitted their Statement of intent to Register (SIR) to UC Berkeley at our auditions at the end of Spring semester.

  • Do I need experience?

    • The only short way to say this is: yes. You may just be the most talented person ever (it has happened before) but experience in both large and small ensembles really is a huge plus in the audition process. We don't mean to discourage anyone; we want everyone to tryout! But it is something to keep in mind.

  • What is the time commitment?

    • We rehearse every Monday, Wednesday and Sunday from 7 to 9 PM. We also rehearse from noon to 1 PM before our weekly show on Sproul plaza, every Monday at 1 PM for around 20 minutes. In addition, there are many large concerts that we perform at as well as many small concerts. You will be given advance notice on every commitment, though.
    • If it seems like a lot of time, it is but the reward is unparalleled at Berkeley: a group of fast friends, an artistic outlet (improves grades!) and tons and tons of fun throught your year. If you want to join but are concerned about time, e-mail the Business Manager and he'll put your fears to rest!

GOOD LUCK!
